I am a Primary School Teacher in Oxfordshire but whenever I get an opportunity I am out and about somewhere with my camera! This website is simply a place for me to share a fairly eclectic collection of the images I have taken over the years, rather than leaving them sitting on endless external hard-drives!

When I first started photography my main inspiration was landscapes (especially if there was water involved!). There is nowhere I'd rather be than up in Scotland enjoying the spectacular scenery there. The Isle of Mull is my favourite place on the planet, I think of it as my 'spiritual home', so it features quite heavily here. It is quite literally breathtaking in its beauty and the way the light changes the landscape from one minute to the next.

The Covid pandemic and its lockdowns in 2020 however, made me focus much closer to home and I started trying to improve my wildlife photography by photographing the birds in my garden. Though the lockdowns were hard in many ways, it was amazing to appreciate and learn about the wildlife on my doorstep and it bought me much joy, in fact so much so that today, photographing birds and wildlife has really taken over from my landscape interests... though I continue to enjoy both when I can!

For those interested in the equipment side of things, I started off using an entry level Nikon DSLR and after a few years sticking with similar cameras I took the plunge and invested in the Fuji X mirrorless system. I then worked my way through this system, starting with the X-T1, then the X-T2 and finally the X-T3 which I still use for landscape and macro photography.  It's a fantastic system but I did find it has some limitations when it comes to wildlife, so during lockdown I purchased a good old-fashioned DSLR, the Nikon D500 with a 200-500mm Nikkor lens. This was a fantastic combination and has been a constant companion for me for the past couple of years until last month. The effect of lugging heavy camera kit around was definitely beginning to take it's physical toll on me, so after much research I have changed allegiance from Nikon and recently purchased a mirrorless Canon R7 with a 100-500mm lens. The results are very much a work in progress as I learn my way around this new kit but I shall enjoy experimenting!

Do have a look around and bear with me whilst I continue to refresh this site, it's in much need of some changes having been neglected for way too long!
