Florida, Day 9 - Animal Kingdom & Typhoon LagoonWe started off Day 9 with a visit to Animal Kingdom to use our allocated 'Fast Passes' on a couple of rides and a show, before heading off to Typhoon Lagoon for a rather more relaxing afternoon. Once we had seen most of the main resorts during the first week, we found this a really nice way to spend each day, it was good to fit in a little 'feet up' time at last! On arriving at Animal Kingdom, one of the first things that you see is the absolutely amazing sculpture 'Tree of Life' which is an absolutely enormous work of Art, standing 145 feet tall and 50 feet wide with about 325 animals carved into its trunk and branches. Inside the Tree of Life is one of the attractions, 'A Bug's Life' which offers an entertaining insight into the life of the insect kingdom. I could have spent ages looking at this tree (and probably did!)
Our favourite attraction however had to be 'Expedition Everest', a mountain of a roller coaster (literally!) which impressively towers over everything in the park.
After a ride up Everest we headed through the park to have a go on the Kali River Rapids (which I sensibly avoided as I did not want another soaking so early in the day!)
I managed to view Kitty, Henry and Richard getting very soggy from a nice dry distance!
Richard did get a little wet... to say the least!!
Love this fluffy tree.. can't remember what it was called though!
The 'Finding Nemo' show was spectacular - amazing puppets and puppetry and such vibrant colours!
We took in a few more sights on the way out of the kingdom...
Then time for Typhoon Lagoon and a little relaxation in the sun!
The 'Lazy River' is a particularly pleasant way to spend an hour or so... it meanders all the way around the water park.
My view for most of the afternoon! :)
The children's view for most of the afternoon! (the 'typhoon' every few minutes was formidable!) We had fun with a waterproof camera in here, though the force of the water made it very difficult to photograph anything!
Finally, after another cracking day, we made it back to the hotel complex for an evening swim and sunset!
