Florida, Day 6 - Hollywood Studios and Magic KingdomOur holiday was fantastic but we were so busy and out for such long days that it was all I could do to upload my photos from my memory card once back in the hotel, actually doing anything with them after that became a step too far! I do intend to finish the holiday blog however as it is a good way for us to remember the experience, and hopefully I can put the pictures in a book for the children when I finally get organised. So... now we're home I'm looking back on Day 6 which saw our first visit to Hollywood Studios. Another scorching day and another busy park! Throughout our visit I was always amazed at how immaculate these parks are despite the crowds... there is no litter, the bins are never over-flowing, the toilets are clean (and no queues!). Disney really do have the place running lke clockwork and are clearly very well versed in handling large amounts of people, I was very impressed!
This little note was tucked into one of our Starbucks Coffee cups... and yes, they wrote 'Richerd' on the order in true Starbucks tradition!
Hollywood Studios is one of the smaller of the Disney Parks but it still had a great feel to it. We loved a couple of their more 'white knuckle' attractions but I didn't manage to take a photo of either on this day - they'll come later! The 'Twilight Tower of Terror' is a rather scary lift in a deserted hotel which basically just drops several floors, goes back up and repeats the drop a few times. It was pretty hairy... particularly for poor Kitty who has a phobia about lifts at the best of times (she actually loved the 'falling' bit, just didn't like getting into the lift and seeing the 'haunted hotel'! Here it is in all it's glory though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9hf9llOOR8 The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith was also great fun!
Mr Potato Head entertaining the queue in the 'Toy Story Mania' attraction...
'The Great Movie Ride' is situated inside an old Chinese Theatre, as the decor testifies!
It's a slow moving ride that takes you through some of the famous scenes from Hollywood Movies. One of the first ports of call was Mary Poppins...
Then we caught up with Clint Eastwood...
...and Tarzan and Jane!
Anyone got a bucket of water?
Follow the yellow brick road...
We found a quieter street and headed for one of the stunt car shows...
The stage had been set to recreate Southern France...
Well, I did say it was a hot day!
Just managed to grab this explosive shot, though there wasn't time to change the camera settings as I would have liked!
After spending a good few hours here we headed back to Magic Kingdom for the afternoon... still possibly my favourite park simply because it's just so archetypal Disney and it really seems to bring out the inner child in everyone!
The buildings are beautifully done... but it is really, really busy!! (dread to think what it must be like in August!)
More coordinated family Tee-shirts, so delightful! :)
When you enter the park this is the view that greets you - that castle really is an imposing sight.
Still striding out... we walked miles (literally!) every day! I love their shadows!
Doing the tourist pose with Walt and Mickey!
The quote reads "We believe in our idea: a family park where parents and children can have fun - together." Walt Disney. Their idea certainly came to fruition... and then some!
I think seeing that reflection made my day! :)
Rapunzel's 'Tangled' Tower looms on the horizon at magic Kingdom.
Kitty takes a breather whilst the rest of us experience The Haunted Mansion... she didn't fancy it!
Oh the wonderful thing about Tiggers...
The sun goes down on another fabulous day!
So pretty!
And that's it for Day 6... nearly half-way and still many more parks to experience! Comments |
