Waddesdon Manor at ChristmasI'm so behind with sorting through photos now that it's getting silly so I am now attempting to catch up during the rare moments of Christmas holiday calm! Earlier this month we went on a visit to Waddesdon Manor to see their Christmas displays and the installation of light sculptures by Bruce Munro. This has become an annual Christmas pilgrimage for us as the place is just so stunning. It was a freezing cold day and evening when we visited and a full moon in a clear sky added to the beauty of the place, though the temperature did make standing around taking long exposure photos quite tricky! We arrived as the sun was beginning to set during the afternoon so took the opportunity to have a quick walk around the sculptures before dark.
The Christmas Market was really beginning to come to life at this time...
We then moved on to the Stable Yard where my children were somewhat delighted to find a very bright and welcoming looking sweet shop...
...with quite an intriguing light!
It was then time to explore the beautifully decorated house...
I absolutely love this amazing light... this is my favourite room in the house!
Every year the decorations follow a theme, this year's being 'China' ...
The stairwell decorations were inspired by the well-known children's book 'The Mousehole Cat'...
Next it was out into the icy cold to see the spectacularly lit house and grounds and the Bruce Munro light sculptures...
...and that was it for Waddesdon this year. I daresay I will be back for more next Christmas! Comments |
