A Photo Trek to London - Part Two, Nighttime!

December 30, 2014  •  Leave a Comment

Back in November I posted Part One of my London Photo Trek and I intended to post the nighttime photos in Part Two soon afterwards. Needless to say life (and then Christmas!) got in the way somewhat and Part Two never happened... well, until now!

After the sun set the views of Tower Bridge and The Shard just got better and better, it was hard to stop taking photographs!

DSCF1977DSCF1977 DSCF1982DSCF1982 We eventually did start to walk down towards St Katherine's dock so the view changed slightly! A security guard stopped us there and said that we were not allowed in the area with tripods... obviously we heeded his advice and didn't dream of taking any more shots! ;)

We thought there would be a rather dull tug pulling some large vessel under the bridge. We really weren't prepared for what actually appeared.... an eight metre high green gummy bear surrounded by bright pink water cannons, a very bizarre but rather fantastic sight! We later learned that this was promoting the release of ''Candy Crush Soda Saga' but at the time it all seemed rather surreal and nonsensical! DSCF2014DSCF2014

Once the Gummy Bear had finished its gala performance, we headed back to St Katherines Dock.

After a bite to eat and a quick recharge of batteries (ours not the cameras'!) it was time to head off to see some of London's Christmas lights. First stop, Knightsbridge and the infamous Harrods store with its beautiful Christmas window displays. I had some fun shooting the light trails created by the huge amount of traffic on the roads!

This shot may not be especially festive but I did like the way the light was falling on these light-shades in one Knightsbridge shop! DSCF2096DSCF2096

Next we headed to Regent and Oxford Street... DSCF2101DSCF2101 DSCF2109DSCF2109 DSCF2116DSCF2116 DSCF2118DSCF2118 DSCF2119DSCF2119 DSCF2122DSCF2122

This Paddington (part of the Paddington Trail around London) was called 'Bear Humbug' and was designed by Ant and Dec. DSCF2128DSCF2128 DSCF2138DSCF2138

DSCF2146DSCF2146 DSCF2151DSCF2151 Selfridges... with a very 'friendly' security guard who told us we were not allowed to take photos because we were using tripods so, in his little world, we must be professional photographers!  DSCF2160DSCF2160 DSCF2163DSCF2163 And that's about it! Lots of miles walked, lots of sights seen, and most importantly, lots of photos taken! :)
