February heralds the arrival of the gorgeous snowdrops at Welford Park which I like to visit every year (it makes it feel as if Spring is just around the corner!). I enjoyed a wander around on Thursday with a camera club friend and we took plenty of photos, though unfortunately the sun did not shine on us that day, the sky remained decidedly grey!

The snowdrops really need a couple of days of good sunshine to encourage them to open up fully, they are still quite tightly closed. They will be spectacular when they do though and I certainly hope to revisit in some better photographic light! Here's a selection of Thursday's images...

I loved the striking colours of these two elderly ladies, so vibrant against the woodland. I had been sitting on one of the sheltered benches in the woods when they went past so didn't have much time to steal a shot. As a result it's not the best, but I still quite like it! 20150212-DSCF5999

Another shot that didn't quite make the grade. I just liked the textures here with the fungi on the log behind the snowdrops. I really do need to invest in a macro lens for my Fuji... one day!
